How do I apply for a gift card?

Your municipality sent you a letter. A unique number is stated in the letter. Complete the form by entering your unique number, postal code, street number, first name and surname, email address and phone number. After you have applied for a gift card, we will send it by post to your house. This will take 10 working days at most. Once you have received the gift card, you can redeem it online. You can also go to a shop in the neighbourhood. This page lists the shops in your neighbourhood who are taking part in this promotion.

I'm getting an error message when requesting the gift card, what can I do

Something went wrong with your address. Please check the following: You have previously requested a gift card. Have you correctly filled in your unique number? Have you entered the address correctly? Your municipality does not organize a gift card campaign. Are you still experiencing issues? Please contact our customer service at (088 - 525 41 10).

When will I receive my gift card?

You will receive the gift card by mail at your home address. You should receive the gift card within a maximum of 10 business days after the request.

Is the gift card valid from the moment I receive it?

No, the gift card is valid for 62 days from the moment you request the gift card.

Do I have to activate my gift card?

After you have applied for and received the gift card, it will be ready for use. In other words, you don’t have to activate it.

Until when is the gift card valid?

Your gift cards is valid for 62 days after you apply for it. You can check how long your gift card is still valid via this link .

How do I redeem my gift card in an online shop?

If you were sent a gift card and you’d like to redeem it in an online shop , then use the code under the barcode on your card. The code starts with: 6064.

Not satisfied with your purchase?

Are you not satisfied with the energy-saving product? You can exchange it for another energy-saving product. To do this, return to the store where you purchased it and ask an employee for assistance. Please note! Money will never be refunded to your gift card, and you will not receive cash in hand. If the new product is cheaper, you will not receive a refund for the difference. If the new product is more expensive, you will need to pay the additional amount. Therefore, carefully consider before exchanging a product in the store.

What kind of products can I purchase with my gift card?

You can only purchase products with your gift card that help save electricity. In online stores , all the products you see can help save electricity. In stores near you, you can identify products that save electricity by green stickers, posters, and strips on the shelves. If you're unsure, you can ask a store employee if a product is eligible for the gift card promotion. Your municipality has chosen the amount and the product category for which you can use the gift card. In your municipality, this product category includes: Household appliances such as washing machines and refrigerators. Click here to see which products you can purchase with the gift card. You can use this link to see how much money you can spend on each type of product and brand . You can choose the product type and brand yourself. It is not possible to purchase a dryer with the gift card. This is a luxury product and, therefore, not energy-saving. It is more energy-efficient to hang your laundry to dry.

Can I, as a business owner, participate in the gift card promotion?

Information about your gift card

Is your energy bill high? The municipality is offering you a free gift card. You can use this gift card to get discounts on products or appliances that are efficient in terms of gas or electricity consumption. You can redeem the gift card at an online shop or at a shop in your neighbourhood that is participating in the promotion.

Explanation of Resident Selection

The Municipality of Diemen is currently targeting the white goods scheme at 525 households that have been automatically granted the energy allowance. This concerns the target group of welfare recipients who either receive municipal assistance or a supplement to their old-age pension (AIO, from the SVB). The estimation is that this target group will only participate in this initiative if the full amount for a new appliance is reimbursed. There is often no room for them to contribute themselves. A second reason for selecting these households is because the Diemen white goods scheme is linked to a savings conversation with an energy coach. This means that a scheduled conversation with one of the energy coaches is a necessary condition for obtaining the gift card for new sustainable white goods. Selecting too large a group would lead to overloading and delays for the energy coaches. To prevent this, it has been decided to start with welfare recipients. The Social Affairs team of the Municipality of Diemen has experience with budgets for the replacement of white goods. When granting income supplements, the following distribution is applied between single-person and multi-person households:

Single-person households €550
Multi-person households €740

We also use these amounts in the white goods scheme. Single parents (with resident child(ren)) belong to the group of multi-person households.

Making an Objection

As described above, the Municipality of Diemen initially distributes 525 gift cards. In the first phase, households that have been automatically granted the energy allowance were selected. This includes the group that receives municipal assistance or a supplement to the AOW (AIO, from the SVB). Residents can contact REL via email, phone, and social media for any questions regarding the application and redemption of a gift card, and REL will explain the municipality's selection process.

If the resident still has objections after contacting REL, they can get in touch with the Municipality of Diemen via info@diemen.nl. Alternatively, they can immediately submit an objection on the Appeal Submission - Municipality of Diemen.

We only have a limited number of gift cards so apply for your gift card quickly. The municipality has set a maximum number on gift cards;

If we notice that multiple gift cards have been applied for at one address, the value on the card will have to be repaid;
